Job description


The Chief Electoral Officer will have the following responsibilities:

· Establish the nomination process for candidates according to the SFUO Constitution;

· Ensures the necessary notices are published;

· Obtain a list of voters;

· See to the physical organization of the elections;

· Rule on all issues pertaining to the organization and administration of the election;

· Ensure the confidentiality of the voting list;

· Promote the elections through different promotional media;

· Create and maintain an accurate budget for the elections;

· Contribute to the positive image of the SFUO;

· Other related duties




· Written and spoken bilingualism (English – French)

· be a student of the University of Ottawa

· Demonstrated writing and editing skills in regards to brochures, on-line publications, newsletters, directories, advertising copy and direct mail

· Demonstrated experience and knowledge of special events organization

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels and in a culturally diverse environment

· Experience and demonstrated commitment to justice and fairness

· A capacity for initiative, self-organization and direction to meet deadlines

· Accuracy and attention to detail

· Demonstrated office administrative skills including preparing agendas, letter-writing and filing

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and to lead a small team

· Knowledge of the SFUO and its constitution is an asset
