Café Alt is University of Ottawa’s only student run café located in the basement of the Simard building. Open in October 2008, this new business has pledged to provide students with healthy food options, fairly traded and organic products, foods that meet the needs of different diets such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, and of course, friendly service because we are run by students, for students.

Open five days a week and located in a newly renovated student lounge, the café is the best destination to hang out, meet friends, have a meal or cram before your exam with delicious coffee. Furthermore, we’ve got the best fair-trade coffee on campus and will blow you away with our fresh Panini sandwiches, which easily beat out other campus food suppliers. If you just want a snack, we offer delicious vegan cookies, snack sized salads and fresh produce. Or if you’re in the mood for a treat, try one of our delicious espresso beverages made with organic and fair-trade espresso, which will keep you awake and satisfy that need for a good coffee.
