Welcome to the SFUO, home to over 250 different cultural, religious, political/social justice, philanthropic/humanitarian, recreational and academic clubs. All of the clubs recognized by the SFUO play a vital role in student life on campus. They reflect the great diversity of our student population at the University of Ottawa and serves as a centerpiece that brings together a multitude of students with similar interests, backgrounds and ambitions. For many students, particularly those of you entering the university community for the first time, clubs can be something of a home away from home, giving you the opportunity to make connections with people with whom you share things in common.
Why should you get involved with one or more of the SFUO clubs? Our clubs offer so much to students; among their many activities, they host guest lecturers, organize sport and ski trips, movie nights, hold cultural and religious celebrations, host and participate in different tournaments, organize awareness campaigns regarding political and social justice issues, and provide forums for discussion and socializing.
To find out more about what’s in store for clubs, as well as to discover exactly what clubs we have here at the University of Ottawa, explore our website! You’ll find a listing of the ever-growing cast of our clubs, with descriptions and contact information for each one.
If you can’t seem to find the kind of club you’re looking to get involved in, it’s really easy to start your own – this is a great way for you to form friendships with other dynamic individuals! If you`re interested in starting a club, check out our registration process.
There are many resources provided by the SFUO for clubs. A club has access to 15 free room bookings per semester for club activities, 10 free tables for promotion, up to $1000 in subsidies for club activities, access to free dance studio time, a free colour banner, office and storage space, and a multitude of other resources to ensure that your club experience is a success.
By becoming part of the clubs community, you can get involved in student life doing something you’re passionate about. If you ever want more information on how to start or how to join a club, don’t hesitate to drop by the newly renovated Clubs Room at room 030 on the ground floor of the University Centre (right next to the couch lounge!).
