Welcome
Welcome to your SFUO Health Plan: health insurance that is designed specifically for you. As a member of the plan you are joining together with thousands of other University of Ottawa students, using strength in numbers to get affordable health insurance that is there when you need it. This site is a useful resource to get information about your plan, to get instructions on how to register or opt-out, and to download your health plan card and claim forms.
Why do I need a health plan?
Government healthcare like the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHP) covers a lot of your basic medical needs like regular check-ups and trips to the emergency room. Things like prescription drugs and visits to the dentist, however, are not covered and can be expensive. For only a fraction of what a private health insurance plan would cost, your SFUO Health Plan will ensure that you can always afford the prescriptions, treatments and medical services that you need so you can focus on school. Even if you are already covered under another plan you can use your SFUO Health Plan to combine your benefits and get better coverage.
Now your SFUO Health Plan is better than ever!
The SFUO is always working to offer you a better Health Plan. This year your coverage has been improved to include:
- 50% increase in vision coverage, now $150 every 24 months
- Doubled vaccine coverage, now $200/year
- The ability to track your claims online (download form here)
- The ability to receive your reimbursements by direct deposit (download form here)
